The Hoy No Circula program is implemented daily in Mexico City (CDMX) and the State of Mexico (Edomex) with the aim of reducing pollution in the Valley of Mexico. The restrictions are based on the hologram, the color of the sticker, and the license plate endings.
According to the established regulations for Tuesday, March 18, 2025, the vehicles that must refrain from circulating are those with holograms 1 and 2, pink stickers, license plate endings 7 and 8, as well as foreign vehicles.
The Double Hoy No Circula is activated when the Environmental Commission of the Megalopolis (CAMe) identifies elevated pollution levels and issues an environmental alert. In these cases, additional restrictions are imposed and communicated through official bulletins.
In case of non-compliance with the restrictions, a fine is imposed that ranges from 20 to 200 times the value of the Unit of Measurement and Update (UMA). In CDMX, this translates to a fine of between $2,262.80 and $22,628 pesos, with the possibility of the vehicle being towed. In Edomex, the fine is $5,576 pesos.
To avoid fines and setbacks, it is advised to check the official program and confirm the current restrictions before using the vehicle.
